Cameron Peters M.St (Oxford)

Founder, Guide & Storyteller Extraordinaire

Cameron Luke Peters is an Oxford graduate. Originally from Durban, he’s spent the last ten years striving to make the Mother City his own like so many global migrants before him.

When he’s not procrastinating on various pieces of writing, you can find him yearning on a beach somewhere, shooting film in dodgy places and picking up plastic bottles off the street whilst shaking his head and tutting under his breath

Testimonials

Have a look at what some of our many entralled guests have had to say:

Superb story telling, allowing you to feel and see the world, as it was back in the day – be it 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and the almost here and now. You are guaranteed to learn something interesting and amazing of a time long gone but never lost. I have been on 2 walks now and highly recommend the experience.

[Cape Town Heritage Tours] exceeded all expectations. The area that I grew up in came alive with interwoven vignettes from the past and present. Cameron has curated a narrative that encompasses so many different facets appealing to different interests and individuals. An added delight was the treasure trove of books that trailed along with us adding another layer to behold… and much reading to hunt down afterwards! Such an imaginative way to bring history and stories to life! Such an enriching experience not to be missed or forgotten.

Cameron is by far the best tour guide I have ever come across. He knows his stuff and brings history to life. I have done two tours with him now and each time my perception of Cape Town was forever altered. Can’t wait to join the next tour. Thanks for an incredible experience!

Johannes Robbertze

I’ve always wanted to go back in time, even if just for one day, and experience Cape Town as it was 100, 200 or even 300 years ago. It’s a natural curiosity and constant fascination, even, or especially, as a born and bred Capetonian. Luckily for me, Cameron Peters is like a human time machine and will magically transport you back through history with his engaging, informative and interactive tours. His knowledge is vast, much like his prized collection of books which loyally join every tour and appear to burst out of bags and pop out of his arms whenever required. The novelty in this modern, virtual world to actually walk the streets, go on a literal and figurative journey to discover sights and stories is refreshing.
